JUNIOR CALDERA FEAT. BILLY BRIAN - What You Get

Ministry Of Sound/Zebralution
JUNIOR CALDERA FEAT. BILLY BRIAN - What You Get (Ministry Of Sound/Zebralution)

For JUNIOR CALDERA, everything is not about dance music…but about music, in general. Inspired by different genres, this 30 years old French native spent several years learning saxo, guitar and bass at the music conservatory. JUNIOR CALDERA started playing “for fun” in several rock bands, finally leaving heavy guitars for electro beats and house music from 2002.

Working in Paris as a “stage designer» to earn is leaving, he quickly met a bunch of well-known DJ’s in particular DJ Master Seb who offered him series of DJ sets at D! Club in Lausanne (Switzerland).

The following year, JUNIOR CALDERA won a mix contest on Radio FG (one of the leading dance radios in France) and get the chance to be the opening guest of David’s Guetta’s DJ set at the Circus Club. He quickly established his name playing in some other well known clubs such as “Milliardaire”, “Rex”, “Queen” or “Cat Corner” (during the Cannes Festival) side by side with Groove Armada, Marshall Jefferson, Jérôme Pacman, Eddie Flashin' Fowlkes.

From DJ to producer, there is only a little step…and JUNIOR started achieving several remixes for Laurent Wolf, Paul Van Dyk, Janet Jackson, Alain Souchon, Magic System, The Pussycat Dolls « When I Grow Up » (#10 of the club charts in France and played all around the world), Brick & Lace « Love Is Wicked » (#2 of the Club Charts in France) and Enrique Iglesias’s Hit « Takin’ Back My Love », Loic B, Calvin Harris, Magic System...

In 2007, his first track « Sexy » came up and became an electro anthem staying many weeks at the top of the French club charts. This great start gave him the chance to work on his first album « Debut ». By listening to the 16 tracks, JUNIOR CALDERA strikes by his capacity to produce on the one hand pop electro songs and on the other hand more underground tunes.

“My musical references are not only coming from the house music area, they also come from folk, pop, r’n’b, reggae music… I’m open minded and eclectic concerning the music I listen or play. I always liked the artists mixing electro music with rock or funk popular beats. I deeply respect the work of The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim or Daft Punk. I’m also a fan of Swedish DJ’s, their music is perfectly well produced. DJ’s like Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso really impacted my music. I wanted to mix different sounds for my first album “Debut”. What I really looked at was having it being a real collaboration in between artists coming from different music scenes”.

Therefore, you will found out in “Debut” the deep and great voices of Sophie Ellis Bextor, Elan (produced by Tony Kanal from No Doubt and The Wailers’ new voice), Lizzy Pattinson (Milk & Sugar, Aurora) or the eccentric and outlandish Vika Kova. Cozi Costi, Carl Ryden (hit makers for David Guetta “Baby When The Light” or Booty Luv) so as Jesse Garcia (Celeda “The Underground”) also wrote or co-produced some tracks from “Debut”.

“What You Get” is one of the singles from “Debut” and one of the biggest dance smash of these past 6 months in France:

·Top 10 at general airplay radio.
·#1 of Fun Radio, Contact and FG’ s playlist.
·Top 10 on NRJ radio…
·Top 15 of the national Club charts for 6 months.
·Top 20 at TV airplay with a sexy video shoot in Amsterdam.

BILLY BRIAN (californian rock singer picked up by JUNIOR CALDERA on Myspace) is the magic voice behind What You Get. BILLY’s voice is a mix of melancholy and intensity, that might remember you with Ryan Tedder’s voice (OneRepublic’s leader). The track is available on 2 different versions: an electro one and a pop-trancy one, so as different remixes.
