Remixe können viele, aber NATÆON hat die Dinge schon immer ein bisschen anders gehandhabt. Die Debütsingle des mysteriösen Techno-Producers aus Berlin ist nicht einfach nur eine zeitgemäße Neubearbeitung, sondern vielmehr ein smart geflippter Edit des beinahe gleichnamigen t.A.T.u.-Klassikers aus dem Jahr 2002 – auch im Hinblick auf die Message.

Bei Erscheinen sorgte die Y2K-Hymne des russische Pop-Duos für jede Menge Aufmerksamkeit. Der Song hielt sich 19 Wochen in den deutschen Charts, fünf davon auf dem ersten Platz. Weltweit verkaufte sich die Single millionenfach, holte in sieben Ländern Gold und in fünf Platin. Auch wegen der angeblich lesbischen Beziehung zwischen den beiden Sängerinnen Jelena Katina und Julija Wolkowa, die vor allem im Heimatland der beiden kontrovers diskutiert wurde – während die Gerüchte im Rest der Welt für stumpfe Cis-Männer-Fantasien herhalten mussten.

20 Jahre später flippt NATÆON flippt nicht nur den legendären Song selbst, sondern durch den kleinen, aber feinen Unterschied im Titel auch die damalige Botschaft. Aus „she“ wird „he“ – und eine klare Message für mehr Offenheit, Akzeptanz und Toleranz gegenüber der schwulen Community.

Auch musikalisch geht NATÆON die Sache nochmal ganz anders an. „All the Things He Said“ ist nicht einfach nur ein klassisches Remake mit harten Beats, wie es gerade en vogue ist. Stattdessen dreht der Producer das Tempo zu den gänzlich neuen Vocals um gute 40 BPM herunter und kontrastiert die verspielten Vibes mit brachialen Beats und Bleeps, auf die nach dem Drop ein zweiter Part folgt, dessen hypnotische Wirkung einen tief hinab in den Berliner Untergrund nimmt.

Many can do remixes, but NATÆON has always done things a little differently. The debut single by the mysterious techno producer from Berlin is not just a contemporary reworking, instead it is a smartly flipped edit of the almost same-titled t.A.T.u. classic from 2002 - also in terms of the message.

When it was released, the Russian pop duo's Y2K anthem caused quite a stir. The song stayed in the German charts for 19 weeks, five of them at the top spot. The single sold millions of copies worldwide, went gold in seven countries and platinum in five. This was also due to the alleged lesbian relationship between the two singers, Yelena Katina and Yulia Volkova, which was the subject of controversy in their home country in particular - while the rumors were used as a fuel for blunt cis-male fantasies in the rest of the world.

20 years later, NATÆON flips not only the legendary song itself, but also the message of the time thanks to the small but subtle difference in the title. The "she" becomes "he" - and a clear message for more openness, acceptance and tolerance towards the gay community.
