TRIBAL KING - Façon Sex

Mit dem Debut-Song "Façon Sex" schaffte das Duo TRIBAL KING gleich auf Anhieb Platz 1 der französischen Charts. Kein Wunder, der Song geht sofort ins Ohr und lässt einen so schnell nicht mehr los.

David was born on 2 April 1979 in Mulhouse, in the Haut-Rhin region of France. He was fascinated by two things: music and airplanes.
Starting at the age of 7, he joined the Mulhouse boys' choir, a famous vocal group in eastern France. For 11 years, he followed the choir performing concerts the world over, in countries such as Spain, Slovakia, Canada and China.
At the age of 18, David's maternal origins caught up with him - his mother was a Creole from Reunion Island - and he joined a West Indian music group called Vawang. He manned the keyboards and provided voice back-ups, occasionally stepping in to play Ragga beats on reprises. Gradually, the group made way for him as Lead singer on the mike. They gave concert after concert in the region: It was during one of these shows that he would meet his future musical alter-ego.
Until early 2006, David shared his time between music and Air France, where he worked driving planes from all corners of the world... on the tarmac. He was hoping that one day maybe, thanks to music, he could pilot his own (!) for pleasure’s sake.

Nony was born on 19 June 1984 in Müllheim, Germany. He was a solitary child who followed his father from garrison to garrison throughout France. He had one source of inspiration: soccer.
He spent 13 years playing his favourite sport, and even got to try his hand in a mythical city, at a magical time: Marseille and the OM! Alas, an operation on both of his knees put an end to his professional dreams.
Fortunately, Nony discovered his other talent…at school. His music teacher forced him to sing in front of his whole class. It was a revelation! Nony wanted other opinions and entered a string of contests. After starting with regional competitions, he launched into major national events. He was one of the last 24 candidates of Pop Star Le Duel in 2004 and was also part of the last group of the final selection of Star Ac’ 5. These positive casting results encouraged him to go to Paris, where he was sponsored by the GABS brand for one year. It also gave him a chance to be invited to take the stage on a regular basis. Everything was in place for the decisive meeting.

TRIBAL KING was born in August 2005
Nony was invited to perform as the opening act in a club in Altkircht, in eastern France. After his set, he stayed and listened to the rest of the concert. He discovered David’s group and was immediately hooked on his ragga beats. They talked. As for David, he liked Nony’s voice. It was immediate musical fusion.

David and Nony left Mulhouse for Antibes, since David was transferred to the Nice airport. Nony gave everything up to follow him, because they both felt they had something that could take them to the top. During a party at a club in Saint Laurent de Var, they were spotted by their future producer, Jean-Michel Padilla.

TRIBAL KING was therefore born on that summer day of 2005. “Tribal,” for David, a champion ragga improviser. “King” for Nony, extraverted and charming, with his superb voice.
Since then, David and Nony have been working non-stop, with catchy refrains and unstoppable melodies, usually accompanied by dancing. They have finished their first 14-track album, released this summer.

Their first single, "Façon Sex,” is set for release at ULM/Universal in July 2006.
